Uzbekistan – PEARL OF THE SILK ROAD

Business FORUM OF UZBEKISTAN in London

Central Asia, and Uzbekistan in particular, is rapidly emerging as a region of strategic interest for international business, investors, and the media. In recent years, Uzbekistan has made confident progress along the path of economic reform, creating conditions for substantial investment inflows and sustainable growth. At the heart of these efforts is tourism, a driving force for the future economy.

Tourism as a Driver of the New Economy

Uzbekistan’s tourism sector already makes a significant contribution to the national economy. It supports job creation, boosts the development of small and medium-sized enterprises, attracts direct investment, and strengthens the country’s cultural and economic diplomacy, serving as a key pillar of Uzbekistan’s soft power. In 2024, Uzbekistan attracted 8.2 million international tourists—1.6 million more than in 2023 (6.6 million). This record figure reflects a systematic national effort to improve tourism and transport infrastructure, build a strong tourism brand for the country and its regions, promote Uzbekistan’s international image, and modernize its visa policy.

Tourism has become one of the core pillars of the national strategy to diversify the economy. Beyond generating direct budget revenues, it creates a powerful synergistic effect by driving the development of transport, hospitality, crafts, gastronomy, and the creative industries. Against the backdrop of growing global interest in Central Asia, Uzbekistan is positioning itself as a safe, welcoming, and culturally rich destination with enormous potential.
